Positive Reward-Based Training: Basic Group Training, Basic & Beyond Group Training, Day Training
Tail Country Pet Resort LLC, (TCPR) specializes in PAWSitive Basic Obedience Group Training, Basic and Beyond Advanced Group Training, Day Training as well as Training Workshops. Our philosophy is centered on positive reward-based training.
Training is an essential part of being a pet parent. It builds confidence, provides mental stimulation, and strengthens the human-animal bond. When you reward your dog for good behavior with positive reinforcement training, they are more likely to repeat the same behavior. Your dog will start associating you with positive things. They will look forward to spending time with you, therefore creating an unbreakable bond.
Barbara Ail Noll, Owner/Operator and Training Director at TCPR has been a certified dog trainer since 2014. Barbara is a graduate of Animal Behavior Collage (ABC) and ABC Mentor Trainer. She is a member of The Association of Professional Dog Trainers, PACCC as a Certified Professional Animal Care Provider and completed the Fear Free ® Boarding & Daycare Certificate Program.
As a certified dog trainer, my mission is to mentor my clients to the best of their ability as they develop mutual love, trust and respect at both ends of the leash.
Training Programs
People ask, “How soon should I start puppy obedience training.” The American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior recommends socialization classes as early as 7-8 weeks of age. Inadequate socialization during the first two to three months of puppyhood can result in behavioral issues (including fears, phobias, avoidance, and aggression) that extend well into the dog’s adult life.
Puppies need to have all core vaccinations as well as the Bordetella vaccination (canine cough) before attending their first class.
We respect the recommendations of waiting to have larger breeds spayed/neutered until after they are over the age of one year old. Please discuss this with the training director prior to registration.
Retractable leashes are NOT permitted in any training classes.
Classes are held in our outdoor daycare yard (weather permitting) or our indoor daycare room at Tail Country Pet Resort.
Basic Day Training Program
Day Training is scheduled twice a week, Monday through Friday during our daycare hours. Your dog will receive individual training from our certified dog trainers, and handlers. Simply bring your dog in the morning between 6:30am-8:45am and pick up from 4pm-6pm. While you are at work, running errands or have a busy day, your dog will be in day training learning basic obedience cues.
Cues your dog will learn are sit, stay, recall (touch/come), loose leash walking, leave it, wait at the door, and no jumping behavior.
Our Day Training Program consists of morning and afternoon training sessions, daycare, and enrichment. In addition, your dog will participate in a variety of activities suited for their age & attention span, with potty breaks and lots of attention.
Each week you will be required to meet with the trainers. The trainer will review what your dog has learned for that day and transfer the commands to you with hands on training, videos, and written instructions. It is vital that you follow through with the consistency of our training methods and verbal cues. YOU are pivotal to your dog’s success.
Basic Group Training Program
Pet parents are essential in the success of your dog’s training. Before the first day of class, pet parents are required to attend an orientation held at the resort. For six weeks we will focus on basic training where your dog will learn, sit, down, stay, recall (touch/come), leave it/drop it, loose leash walking and no jumping.
Our Basic Group Training Program is designed to create a relaxed environment, so each dog and pet parent receives the individual attention they deserve. Classes are held in our large daycare yard (weather permitting) or our daycare room, so you have ample space to work through the cues with your dog. We make sure that our obedience classes are fun. Your dog will not be training for the entire hour. We will take breaks for your dog to socialize, introduce them to enrichment toys and have bathroom breaks. Common pet parent issues will be addressed through the six weeks of training.
Classes are held Tuesday evenings from 6:15pm to 7:15pm.
Basic & Beyond Group Training Program
Once your dog has completed our basic group training classes, day training program or completed a basic training program or private trainer, they are eligible to advance their skills in our Basic & Beyond Group Training Program. This course is designed to review basic obedience while focusing on advanced training with distractions. You and your dog will be practicing obedience cures in areas where distractions will occur. A class will be held walking along our nature trail as well as out & about classes that will be held off-site. This class prepares the pet parent who likes to socialize their dog and introduce them to new environments.
Classes are held on Thursday evening from 6:15pm to 7:15pm.
Training Workshops
Workshops are specifically focused on areas where pet parents feel they need more assistance for the safety and well-being of their dog. Workshops range from 1 to 2 sessions, depending on the type of workshop you request will determine the number of sessions. Workshops are held indoors and outdoors at the resort. Retractable leashes are NOT permitted in any workshop training.
